Gibson L-7C Arch Top Acoustic Guitar (1954)
Gibson L-7C Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar (1954), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # A-16123, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, maple back and sides, spruce top; maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original brown tolex hard shell case.
Overall length is 42 1/2 in. (108 cm.), 17 in. (43.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/4 in. (8.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).
This L-7C is a very nice original example of this perennial working man's carved top guitar, one of Gibson's best values over the years. It is in lovely complete and original condition overall, the only modification is the original bridge base has been carved a bit to alter it to a two-footed style. There is one old top crack coming off the bass side f-hole; this has been solidly but visibly repaired with a splice and touch-up.
The top finish has a few pick scratches, and overall there are some scattered small dings and dents. Otherwise the guitar has little serious play wear, save for a long top scratch down from the upper waist. This is a very fine playing and sounding instrument, with a lot of tone played into it. It is recently off the road with a great acoustic string band and ready for more, complete with an excellent original brown hard case. Excellent Condition.
