Kay Kay Kraft Style B Arch Top Acoustic Guitar , c. 1931

Kay Kay Kraft Style B Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1931, made in Chicago, sunburst lacquer finish, laminate spruce top, laminate maple back and sides, pearloid headstock.
A good example of the early Kay line of asymmetrical bodied round hole archtops; this maple-bodied guitar was in the middle of the 3-guitar line, original price $35.00. Triple bound sunburst top, back and sides with the black layer outermost. Attractive sunburst figured maple back and sides. Bolt on adjustable neck with huge wing nut on neck block, which actually works quite well for setting the action although a short-lived feature. Open back 3-on-a-plate tuners with black plastic buttons. Multi bound rosewood fingerboard with slotted diamond inlays, white pearloid headstock with gold-painted raised "Kay Kraft" logo and edge decoration. Original trapeze tailpiece, replaced movable rosewood bridge. A very well-made and attractive instrument.
Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 14 1/4 in. (36.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 9/16 in. (9 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (635 mm.). Generally excellent condition, missing pickguard and original bridge otherwise original. Some finish wear and dings, mostly to top. Plays and sounds fine.
