Guild CE-100 Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1960)

Guild CE-100 Model Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1960), made in Hoboken, serial # 14601, sunburst top, dark stained back and sides finish, laminated maple body, laminated mahogany/maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original brown chipboard case.

The CE-100 is one of Guild's stalwart midline models, a standard for many years. With a medium-depth body, single neck pickup and pearloid block fingerboard inlay it is the Hoboken equivalent to Gibson's ES-175. This one dates to 1960, with a cream-covered P-90 style pickup, older style "open book' headstock shape and a darker, warmer sunburst than Guild's red-and-black tinged finishes from later in the decade. An excellent guitar for jazz or other lower-volume styles, a very good bargain in a high quality, cutaway hollowbody instrument from this era.
 
Overall length is 41 1/4 in. (104.8 cm.), 16 3/8 in. (41.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). This is one clean and original guitar! There are some small dings and chips but apart from a scrape on the back of the neck behind the 10th fret no large areas of finish loss. Some grain-oriented cracks in the top laminate of the back, noticeable but not serious. An exceptionally fine player, excellent frets and neck angle…just amazingly well preserved for its 50+ years. Includes a typical original chipboard case in above-average condition. Overall Excellent Condition.
