Guild X-50 Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1955)
Guild X-50 Model Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1955), made in New York City, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated maple body, laminated mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, hard shell case.
A very early Guild guitar built in New York before the company's move to Hoboken NJ. The X-50 was the lowest guitar in the line, but is still a very well-made instrument with a professional feel.
Overall length is 41 3/4 in. (106 cm.), 16 1/4 in. (41.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/4 in. (8.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Very clean and all original guitar overall; some finish checking and dings (mostly on back of neck) but no major wear. Some binding shrinking but no crumbling, cracking or other such distress; heelcap has shrunk slightly and has two sealed cracks but is solid. Added strap button to side of heel. A fine player; good neck angle, good bridge height and an excellent sounding single pickup. Includes a period Gretsch HSC with most of the tolex removed but tastefully decorarted with stenciled bats. Overall Excellent Condition.
