Gretsch PX6192 Country Club Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1958)

Gretsch PX6192 Country Club Model Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1958), made in Brooklyn, NY, sunburst lacquer finish, laminated maple body and neck, spruce top, ebony fingerboard, blue tolex original hard shell case.

A very fine example of a 1950's Gretsch Country Club with an unusual combination of features. This guitar has a laminated spruce top which while occasionally seen on Country Clubs is a very rare feature on 1950's Gretsches, very early PAF Filter'tron pickups with unsculpted surround rings and the short-lived 'soundpost' bracing design where the top braces arch down under the bridge to meet the back.

This particularly happy combination results in a spectacular sounding and great-playing guitar, certainly one of the nicest 'Clubs we have ever seen from any period. The guitar also features original Grover Imperial tuners, early "G-arrow" knobs and the first version of the then-new "Space Control" bridge with the higher conical end caps. All edges are multibound, all metal hardware is gold plated and the ebony fingerboard has the half-moon "Neo-Classic" inlays. This is simply a super classy and unique Gretsch, and a great guitar for Rockabilly, early Rock&Roll stylings, Vinatge Country or even Jazz (Ask Al Caiola!)

Overall length is 42 1/4 in. (107.3 cm.), 17 1/16 in. (43.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 7/8 in. (7.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Very fine original condition overall, all original finish and hardware except for a Danelectro(!) strap button on the upper bout. Some light finish dings and chips, mostly noticeably to the back of the neck; gold hardware has average playing wear. Original case also very fine. Excellent Condition.
