Teisco Del Rey TG-64 Solid Body Electric Guitar , c. 1966

Teisco Del Rey TG-64 Model Solid Body Electric Guitar, c. 1966, made in Japan, sunburst finish.
One of the more interesting Japanese guitars of the 1960's, and a member of the most diverse and colorful family of electrics to emerge from the far east in that era. This Teisco Del Rey solidbody features a brushed metal pickguard housing three pickups with individual on/off rocker switches, with master tone and volume controls mounted on a separate plate. The body has the infamous "monkey grip" cutout in the upper bass bout and the headstock sports the trademark 4+2 tuner array. A snazzy, solid and snarly sounding guitar, a much better instrument than most 1960's Japanese guitars. Proudly bears a colorful metal crown badge proclaiming "Teisco del Rey" roughly translating as "Teisco of the King"…king of what we're not sure!
Overall length is 42 1/4 in. (107.3 cm.), 14 in. (35.6 cm.) wide, and 1 3/8 in. (3.5 cm.) deep. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). All original except for one tuner (a decent period match) and one bridge height screw. Finish overall clean with small dings and light play wear, vibrato handle and spring missing so this functions as non-vibrato guitar. Plays well (for a Teisco) and sounds cool! Excellent Condition.
